Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is an ancient therapeutic technique with roots in traditional Chinese medicine, used for thousands of years to promote circulation, relieve tension, and support the body’s natural detoxification processes. Historically practiced across Asia and the Middle East, it involves briefly heating glass cups to create a vacuum before placing them on the skin.

From a physiological perspective, the suction created by fire cupping increases local blood flow, loosens fascia and muscle tissue, and stimulates the lymphatic system. This enhanced circulation helps draw out stagnation, reduce inflammation, and support the removal of metabolic waste from underlying tissues. Patients often report immediate relief from stiffness, tension, or soreness following treatment.

Cupping may leave temporary circular marks on the skin, which are not bruises but a normal response to increased blood flow and the release of stagnation in the tissues.

You can book fire cupping as a stand-alone treatment or include it as an adjunct to your acupuncture session. It pairs especially well with acupuncture for musculoskeletal pain, stress relief, and recovery from overuse or physical strain.
