Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your clinic located?
Vessel Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine is located inside CrossFit FLxR in Carlsbad, California. We proudly serve the communities of Carlsbad, Vista, Oceanside, Escondido, Encinitas, Del Mar, and beyond.
What conditions do you treat?
We provide acupuncture and herbal medicine for a wide range of conditions including, but not limited to: orthopedic pain, women’s health, digestive disorders, stress, anxiety, fatigue, fertility, and more. Every treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to areas such as your arms, legs, and back. Gowns or draping are available if needed.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first appointment includes a thorough health intake, discussion of your concerns, pulse and tongue diagnosis, and your first acupuncture treatment. Plan to spend about 75–90 minutes for this initial session. Follow-up visits are typically 45–60 minutes.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most patients feel minimal to no pain. You may experience a light pinch upon insertion, followed by sensations like tingling, warmth, or heaviness—signs that your body is responding to the treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Acupuncture is very safe when performed by a licensed professional. Occasionally, you may experience mild bruising, slight bleeding at needle sites, or temporary fatigue. These effects are typically short-lived and self-resolving.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer the appointment to another patient. Missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a 50% service fee.
Do you accept insurance?
We are out-of-network providers and do not bill insurance directly. However, we’re happy to provide a Superbill—an invoice with standardized treatment codes—which you can submit to your PPO plan, FSA, or HSA for potential reimbursement.
Please note: Reimbursement depends on your specific out-of-network benefits and is not guaranteed. Fertility and cosmetic acupuncture are not covered under any California insurance plans at this time.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your specific condition, health goals, and how your body responds. Some patients feel improvement after 1–3 treatments, while others may benefit from ongoing care. We will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you.
Do you prescribe herbs?
Yes. Herbal medicine is often recommended in conjunction with acupuncture to support and extend the effects of treatment. Herbal formulas are customized for each patient and can be prescribed as teas, powders, capsules, or tinctures.
